Library membership is available for free to all residents and ratepayers of Selwyn District. With your membership, you can borrow items from any of our libraries and use our eResources online.
Start the process by filling in our online registration form. You will be granted a temporary membership number and PIN which is valid for four weeks - you may borrow no more than two items. With four weeks you must visit a library branch and show your ID and proof of address to receive your new library card and full membership.
Adults* (including parents/caregivers enrolling children under 16 years) will need to produce two forms of appropriate ID to enable full library membership (ability to borrow 30 items at once):
- Photo Identification - such as a driver's licence or passport
- Proof of address - such as a bill or letter sent to your Selwyn address. (If you pay rates, we may be able to check you address on the Selwyn District Council Rating system)
*Adult Membership starts at age 18
You are responsible for every item borrowed, and also for items borrowed by any of your children under the age of 16 years.
Please let us know if you:
- lose your card (a replacement card will cost you $4.00)
- change your address - alternatively you can change your details for all Selwyn District Council contacts online.
- change your name
